ABOUT THE BOARD
The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the County of Los Angeles, a charter county. As such, it has the unique function of serving as the executive and legislative head of the largest and most complex county government in the entire United States.
A civil service staff which performs the duties for the County departments and agencies serves the needs of the County's population of more than 10 million people.

OVERSIGHT BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
The Oversight Boards and commissions work is an integral part of the County to improve transparency and accountability, monitor progress of reform, child and inmate protection, and work with County departments to ensure effectiveness of service to County constituents. The Oversight Boards and commissions under the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors (EO) purview are led by Executive Directors or EO staff who guide and assist the members of each Oversight Board and commission with their mandated authority.
